Human rights and organized crime: At-risk youth
A Talk by Siria Gastelum , Ana Paula Oliveira , Luisa Fernandes Riascos Gamboa , Stephen Okwany and Mr Jacques Muhindo
About this Talk
This event aims to convene a platform to bring together a cohort of the 2023 Resilience Fund Fellows with the objectives of discussing the intersection between crime and human rights agendas specifically children and youth. Low socioeconomic status, poverty, exposure to violence, unemployment and lack of access to proper education lead them outside the law and into the hands of criminal organizations. Resilience Fund community members would come together to explore the latest evidence of organized crime impact in human rights, share their insights, and raise awareness to human rights violations in the context of organized crime. The event will also be a platform to disseminate GI-TOC’s research on organized crime and human rights.
