About this Speaker
Dr Eleanor Beevor is a Senior Analyst in the West Africa Observatory at the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime. She is a researcher specialising in non-state armed groups, violent extremist groups, transnational organised crime, and climate and environmental security. As a field researcher and practitioner, she has worked in DRC, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Somalia, Uganda, Kenya and Jordan. Prior to joining GI-TOC she was a regional security and access analyst in the Sahel with the International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO).
She is a United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Crisis Bureau Deployable Expert, and has worked as a consultant for UNDP and for the United Nations Office for Central Africa. She has also been a Research Associate at the International Institute for Strategic Studies. Her PhD examined mobilisation and violence by a secessionist movement in the border regions of Uganda and Democratic Republic of the Congo.
