About this talk
Extortion takes many forms in different places of the world. But while the extortionists and their methods may vary from one context to another, one thing that often appears to be common is that the victims are reluctant to speak out, they are living in fear, afraid of threats to their livelihoods, being intimidated and victimised again or simply because they do not have any way to ensure their voice will be heard and action taken. However there has been too little action from the authorities to end extortion, to address its causes, and to help the many people who suffer because of it.
