The impact of global arms control regimes in reducing armed violence: a regional assessment / approach

A Talk by Emile LeBrun , Anna Alvazzi del Frate , Christian Ponti and Gergely Hideg

About this Talk

The Kennis study Assessing the Feasibility of Employing Sustainable Development Impact Indicators in Global Arms Control Instrument Monitoring consists in the development of a tool, based on a sound methodology, for states to overcome data-related obstacles and to meaningfully incorporate armed violence and other sustainable development indicators into their efforts for monitoring performance in the implementation of the Firearms Protocol and other international arms control agreements. Panellists will discuss progress in the development of indicators and how this initiative could be relevant for states with reference to the implementation of specific global and regional arms control instruments, including for the review mechanism of the UN Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime.
