Cooperation between Asian nations in the fight against crime: challenges and opportunities
A Talk by Ling Xu , Jisun Choi PhD , Takuma Kamada and Martin Thorley 马丁
About this Talk
While commentary on international law enforcement efforts often looks from the centre outwards (international organisation to nation-state) and typically retains a Euro-American perspective, cooperation between Asian states remains a vital but under-researched part of the whole. This panel will consider such cooperation, broadly conceived, looking both to the past and the future, weighing up both challenges and opportunities. Set against a backdrop of substantial continent-wide criminal activity identified in Global Initiative’s Crime Index, panellists will explore different perspectives on such cooperation, acknowledging the distinctive regional challenges while attempting to plot a way forward.
