About this Talk

This panel will analyze the smuggling of migrants towards Spain and Italy as the destination countries. The panelists will then look at similar activities of human smuggling bound for the United States. They will also explore the scope and problem of the mobile organized crime groups in Europe as part of the property crimes including burglary, theft and extortion. Then, they will analyze the cultural aspects and criminal exploitation of these mobile organized crime groups. Finally, they will talk about the role of smuggling deceased Shiite bodies to the Wadi al-Salam cemetery in Najaf for burial as it relates to the production of religious space in sectarian Iraq.
