Phil Brewer is a specialist advisor on modern slavery at the Human Trafficking Foundation. He also works as a consultant delivering and supporting a diverse range of counter-human trafficking projects with organisations including STOP THE TRAFFIK Global, Beyond Borders Scotland and Research in Practice (RiP). He has also contributed to publications including 'Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery Law and Practice' (Southwell, Brewer, Douglas Jones) as well as 'The Truth About Modern Slavery' (Kenway)
Phil was a Police Officer for nearly 30 years’ service, retiring from the London Metropolitan Police in September 2019 as Detective Superintendent and head of the Met’s Modern Slavery Unit. In addition to this role, Phil sat on a number of national modern slavery working groups as well as regularly representing UK Policing at the Europol Trafficking Human Beings Expert Group (Project Phoenix).
Phil has recently completed a masters at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, in human trafficking, migration and organised crime.
