Kaushik is an Officer in the Indian Revenue Service with a passion for Digital Initiatives and Public Policy. He spent close to half a decade at the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, the apex anti-smuggling agency of India, working under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, where he was involved in development of intelligence and carrying out investigations pertaining to smuggling of contraband, including drug trafficking and illicit international trade in wildlife and environmentally sensitive items, as well as combating commercial frauds related to international trade and evasion of Customs duty.

He specialized in Digital Forensics and how it can be used to improve the quality of investigations carried out by agencies. He has extensively explored the technical and legal aspects associated with the usage of Digital Forensics to enhance the quality of intelligence-development and investigations and is regularly involved in capacity building activities for officers working in investigations.

He was also responsible for the development and maintenance of India’s National Customs Offence Database, to capture the lifecycle and specific details of all Customs Offences detected in India.
