About this speaker

Bret Windhauser is currently a second-year Ph.D. student in History at the Graduate Center of City University of New York. He previously obtained an M.A. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilization from the University of Washington in Seattle. As part of his studies, Bret participates in two digital humanities projects. The first is the Svoboda Diaries project through the University of Washington which transcribes 19th-20th century travel accounts from a European resident of Ottoman Baghdad. The second initiative is the Princeton Ethiopian Miracles of Mary project for which Bret assists with transcribing and translating Ge’ez religious manuscripts from 14th-20th century Ethiopia.
