About this Talk
Serious and organised crime in cyberspace?
Ivett Csontos-Nagy
Cyberspace has become a dominant aspect of serious and organised crime. Today, there is almost no crime that does not involve a computer, a smartphone, a laptop, etc. In my presentation, I will show whether we can talk about organised crime in the context of cyberspace, whether it is organised, and if so, what forms it takes and how it can be combated in the criminal and judicial field. It will also be discussed what types of organised crime are most likely to appear in cyberspace.
International cooperation as an issue for effective fight against cybercrime
Judyta Kasperkiewicz
When comparing legal solutions applicable in various countries and existing international regulations, it should be noted that the regulations often become insufficient and cannot meet the requirements they face in practice. Effective cooperation between law enforcement agencies in the area of cybercrime is a major challenge, primarily due to the international nature of this type of crime. Research on global cybercrime has recently gained momentum due to the increasing importance of cybersecurity, and members of law enforcement agencies need some legal tools and strategies to prepare themselves for fighting global cybercrime. One strategy for effectively fighting cybercrime is to analyze international conventions and agreements. However, the use of these legal documents often defeats the purpose of these regulations. The correct course of action must be followed, but the waiting time for the response of authorities from other countries leaves much to be desired. In the fight against cybercrime, time and the use of appropriate tools to keep evidence of the perpetrator are crucial to identifying the perpetrator of the cybercrime. In addition to time, knowledge about all possible solutions that may be applicable becomes important. For this reason, attention should be paid to the importance of education and spreading knowledge about international cooperation in the field of cybercrime among law enforcement agencies. In my proposed presentation, I will discuss how ineffective international cooperation of law enforcement agencies influences on global cybercrime. I address legal concerns behind various approaches to using existing legal tools, and I share instructional strategies that can be used to move beyond the preliminary stage of the legal proceedings in cybercrime cases.
