About this Talk

For most if not all, “Space Crime” or “Crimes committed in Outer Space” may sound as mere science-fiction or a reality that will eventually arrive, but only in centuries to come. Yet, “Space Crime” will start happening hand in hand along with increasing human activity in outer space. And it will certainly become one the most pressing issues of tomorrow. Humanity cannot wait for space crimes to become recurrent for preparing to prevent and countering them. As of today, the expertise in “Space Crime” has yet to be developed. Therefore and contrary to custom, rather than looking to provide for answers the objective of this round–table is to offer a space for a free, franc, open discussion among representatives from Governments, UN entities and other international organizations, Academia and other actors interested in starting to explore and craft the questions that will need to addressed soon to face the challenges posed by Space Crime.
