About this Talk

This panel brings together researchers from Australia and the Netherlands to discuss their research on outlaw biker crime. Various topics will be addressed, such as the background and criminal careers of Dutch OMCG members, the criminal histories of Australian OMCG members during adolescence and early adulthood, and changes to the internal culture of Australian OMCG based on 39 interviews with former OMCG members in Queensland.

Sjoukje van Deuren is a PhD candidate in criminology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her research interests include outlaw biker clubs, organized crime, and domestic violence.


Isabella Voce

Miss Isabella Voce

Senior Research Analyst, Australian Institute of Criminology

I am a Senior Research Analyst for the Australian Institute of Criminology’s Serious and Organised Crime Research Laboratory (SOCR-Lab). My current research focusses include the analysis and disruption of traditional illicit drug markets and darknet crypto-markets, and understanding the recruitment and criminal careers of outlaw motorcycle gang members. I have also published in the areas of policing domestic violence, intimate partner homicide, and evaluations of juvenile justice programs.
