I have over thirty (30) years of international experience as corporate lawyer. Authorized to practice law in both Colombian and Venezuelan jurisdictions. I am expert on developing legal projects to support local and international businesses. Managed in-house legal resources, outside counsels as well as company budgets to support the business development in multiple jurisdictions from transnational approach and in complex political and economic environments. I have broad and long experience dealing with global/regional/market operations, procurement, and logistics. I am experienced in compliance matters, according to FCPA and other international and domestic rules/policies both in EU and in the Americas. I am an arbitrator, and an expert coordinator of local litigations and alternative dispute resolution methods, including commercial arbitration. I head the Global INTA Alcohol & Tobacco Group (2023), and I am a Member of the Board and Chair of the Compliance Task Force of the ICC Institute of World Business Law. I had a Master Degree from Harvard Law School (1999), and PhD in Law from the UCV Venezuela (2011). I am the author of 3 books on comparative and international law, including the 2024 book on "Criminal Economies: Multidimensional Approaches", as coauthor and editor. I had written over 50 specialized review articles. I am an international speaker and professor of international, comparative, and economic law in various universities, including the UN University for Peace. I have dedicated the last 6 years of my professional life to counter illicit trade and transnational crimes, including direct leadership and drafting of model regulations on these matters for the LATAM region.
