Verónica Zubillaga: (PhD, Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium), is an associate professor at the Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas. Her research focuses on armed violence in Venezuela, gender, and public policy. In recent years Zubillaga has combined academia with public impact on the domain of social violence, specifically promoting an arms control and disarmament public policy in Venezuela. She has been Craig M. Cogut Visiting Professor of Latin American Studies at Brown University (2014-15); Santander Visiting Scholar at DRCLAS, Harvard University (2016) and Visiting Fellow at The Kellogg Institute for International Studies, Notre Dame University in 2018-2019. In Caracas, together with fellow researchers, she founded Red de Activismo e Investigación por la Convivencia [Network of Activism and Research for Coexistence] REACIN, an association dedicated to research and activism for the formulation of public policies that respect democratic guarantees. http://reacin.org/.
