About this speaker

PhD in Criminal Law (Complutense University of Madrid UCM-2010). Lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the UCM since 2013.

Specialist in Criminal Law, in my research and work I have addressed issues of legal theory of crime and crimes in particular, specialising on the one hand in human trafficking and on the other in corruption offences.

The analysis of the reality linked to human trafficking has been the focus of my research interest in recent years. The central axis of my analysis has been the legal position of the victim of human trafficking who is at the same time forced to carry out criminal activities and the possibilities that open up for these victim-perpetrators within the criminal law. The principle of non-punishment of the victim of trafficking and its application in Spanish law has been the focus of my research. The approach to this issue as an essential element in the protection of victims of trafficking has been reflected in several publications, as well as in presentations and interventions in different forums.

Since 2012 I have been part of the research group IUSMIGRANTE, working intensively on the concept of human mobility in relation mainly to human trafficking and its legal-criminal analysis. Within this research group I have been part of the following research projects ( 2012-2015: "Ius Puniendi and irregular migration "; 2016-2020: "Human mobility: between rights and criminalisation").

Member of several research projects, the current ones related to the lines of the OC24 Conference are the following:

"Social exclusion and the criminal and penitentiary system: analysis and proposals about three realities: immigration and refuge, mental illness and prison", from June 2020 to June 2024;

“White-collar crime and corruption” research group, from September 2021;

 HEROES Novel Strategies to Fight Child Sexual Exploitation and Human Trafficking Crimes and Protect their Victims research project (European Commission), from December 2021 to December 2024;

“Cross-cutting Strategies for the Prevention of Economic Crime and Corruption”, from July 2022 to June 2025.
