Lea Sterli’s research focuses on transnational and international crime in Europe, with a special emphasis on the Western Balkans. Her work explores the nexus between hooliganism and organized crime, using theoretical approaches to examine the wide array of factors that influence the development and operations of these criminal networks. Theoretical approaches are not merely academic exercises; they provide a lens through which we can better understand the underlying forces shaping these phenomena.
Driven by her passion for human rights and equality, Lea’s work reflects the growing field of transnational criminal justice and organized crime, blending traditional and contemporary frameworks. Her research emphasizes the importance of understanding the multiple dimensions that contribute to organized crime, offering a comprehensive, multidimensional perspective.
Lea holds a Master’s degree in International Crime and Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Her extensive experience spans human rights advocacy, labor rights, and global security initiatives. She has contributed to projects addressing labor rights violations with the Social & Labor Convergence Program (SLCP) and human rights and security issues with UNITAR. In addition, she is actively involved with Nexxus Consulting, where she focuses on consulting for international crime and justice matters, further broadening her expertise in the field.
