Kartini obtained an LLM in International Public Law from the Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. After serving as an aide of the Indonesian Presidential Special Envoy, she joined Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Indonesia Jakarta. She is currently a PhD Researcher at the University of Warwick, UK, with a research interest focused on financial crime particularly money laundering and financial regulation areas.
