About this speaker

John Mark Pokoo is Head of Regional Small Arms and Light Weapons Control Training Programme at the School of Research and Academic Affairs of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre in Accra, Ghana (KAIPTC). He previously worked with the German Technical Cooperation/GTZ at the KAIPTC on the institutional strengthening and capacity development of the KAIPTC. In that role, he helped in the expansion of the KAIPTC range of training programmes and increased civil society partnerships with the KAIPTC and ECOWAS in the context of the collaborative design and delivery civilian-driven training courses in conflict prevention, peace and security. John has written on civil society and conflict early warning in West Africa and has co-authored papers on DDR and SSR processes in Liberia and also, the impact of drug trafficking on national and sub-regional security in West Africa with Dr. Thomas Jaye and Dr. Kwesi Aning respectively.
