Francesco Calderoni

Francesco Calderoni is full professor of Criminology at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan.
He is researcher at Transcrime since September 2005.
His areas of interest are organized crime, illicit markets, organized crime legislation, reforms of criminal procedure, crime proofing and social network analysis.
He graduated magna cum laude in Law at Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi of Milan (2005). He graduated with the International PhD in Criminology at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan (2009). From 2009 to 2011 he has been research fellow at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan for the application of social network analysis to criminal organizations. From 2011 to 2015 he has been Assistant Professor, and from 2015 to 2021 Associat Professor, of criminology at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan.
He was expert of the Council of Europe for the reform of the Criminal Procedure Code of Georgia (2006) and Ukraine (2007) and of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation for the reform of the Criminal Procedure Code of Romania (2007). In 2010 he was awarded the Ambrosoli Prize by the Municipality of Milan for the best ph.d. thesis on the relationship among ethics, legality and justice. In 2014 he was awarded the Canada-Italy Innovation Award for the analysis of criminal networks.
