Dr Erica Von Essen

Erica von Essen holds a PhD in Environmental Communication and now works as an associate professor at Stockholm University and the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences. von Essen’s principal focus has been on illegal killings of wildlife in various contexts. In her 8-year academic career, von Essen has published over 55 peer-reviewed articles, led projects and spoken at parliaments on intersection between laws and ethics in the context of hunting and wildlife management. Her area of expertise on poaching as a phenomenon, approached through in-depth qualitative research with hunters, has taken her into green criminology.
