In addition to his current posting in Vienna he has served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Mexico to the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Food Program (WFP), International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT); Alternate Governor of Mexico and Deputy Executive Director to the Board of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD); Delegate of Mexico to the United Nations in NY (as a member to the Delegation to the Security Council 2002-2003, he was responsible for the adoption of resolution 1502 (2003) on the “Protection of United Nations personnel, associated personnel and humanitarian personnel in conflict zones” and, Delegate of Mexico to UNESCO.
