About this speaker
This is Csaba Zsigmond (dr.jur., PhD) from the University of Public Service Faculty of Law Enforcement, Department of Criminal Intelligence and Economic Crime. He is a police lieutenant colonel who teaches at the Faculty of Law Enforcement as a senior lecturer. His subjects related to the investigation and examination of economic crimes.
He started his professional career as early as 1998. After graduating in Budapest from the Hungarian Police Academy, until 2019, he worked in the Hungarian police in various positions in the following fields:
- investigation of crimes against life,
- investigation of organised crime,
- investigation of economic and financial crimes,
- environmental crimes.
He also graduated in law from Eötvös Lóránd University (ELTE) in 2003 and passed the bar exam in 2012.
In 2017, he started PhD studies at the Doctoral School of Law and Order Sciences, where he obtained a PhD degree in 2023 with the distinction "summa cum laude". The defended PhD thesis was written on the following theme: “International criminal organisations involved in illegal trade in protected species of fauna and flora”.
He has participated in several international law enforcement training courses abroad and Hungary:
2023 CEPOL course (Budapest) - on environmental crimes,
2023 "Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and Smuggling of Migrants", organised by the Italian Ministry of the Interior.
2024 "Impact Evolution" course organised by the University of Cambridge
He has attended several international conferences as a speaker.
2023 Novi Sad (Serbia) Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary organized XX Legal Days Conference, the theme of the presentation was "Wildlife crime"

Lecture on "Laundering money from drug trafficking in Hungary"

His current research interests consist of several related fields of environmental crimes, such as organised crime, economic and financial crime, economic background of organised crime and money laundering.
