Dr. Cheludo Tinaye Butale completed her Doctoral Degree in International Relations at Cyprus International Relations. She has a Masters Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the Management College of Southern Africa and University of Botswana. Her Doctoral thesis focused on Gender Mainstreaming in peace and security and trade related issues in International Organisations that include the European Union, Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the Association of South-East Asian Nations using Critical Discourse Analysis Approach. Her wide research interests include International Security, International Development, Global Governance, International Political Economy and International Relations Theories in a broader perspective. Her research interests mainly focus on a gender perspective of socio-economic, trade and security issues of international organisations as well as a gender perspective of Anti-Money Laundering/ Countering the Finance of Terrorism (AML/CFT) laws and regulations in international organisations and at national levels. She has six years of experience as a Senior Assistant Research Analyst/Policy Analyst at the Ministry of State President in Botswana. She also previously worked for Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Botswana where she focused on thematic research projects on gender social justice and democracy. She is currently a research consultant and Managing Director of Assimilate Experts Pty Ltd Consultancy firm in Botswana that focuses on gender and socio-economic/environmental, trade and security issues in international organisations and at national levels and is a part-time tutor/trainer for the degree programme of Youth Development at Botswana Open University. She is also a gender activist and has previously served as a board member of Emang Basadi Women’s Association. She serves in the National Consultative Committee of the Limpopo Watercourse Commission, an intergovernmental organisations that operates in Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe, responsible for water security and sustainable land management practices. She is also a gender expert (consultant) of Global Water Partnerships Southern Africa. She is a member of Charity and Security Network, a non-profit organisation based in United States and part of the working groups that consider a gender dimension to AML/CFT regulations and laws. She also works on projects with Informal Sector Associations in the SADC region. She has written articles that has been published by the Development Southern Africa Journal and Friedrich Ebert Journal for Latin America (Nueva Sociedad).
