About this speaker

Caroline Chebet is a Kenyan journalist who writes on everyday issues surrounding conservation, science, education and human-interest stories across Africa. Her stories have been featured in local and international platforms including The Standard and Daily Nation in Kenya, Mail&Guardian, Mongabay, The Independent and The Continent. She has pursued investigative features on cross-border smuggling of donkeys in East Africa, Trafficking of African grey parrots in Kenya among others. Her investigative features have been featured in outlets including the Global Initiative against Transnational Organised Crimes (GI-TOC) Risk Bulletin. In 2021, she was crowned the Development Reporting award winner -Print category during the Media Council of Kenya’s Annual Journalism Excellence Awards. In 2023, she was crowned the first runners up under the same category. Caroline believes in the power of story-telling to amplify people’s voices and influence public perceptions.
