Ana Carolina Haliuc Bragança

Federal Prosecutor in Brazil since 2014. Since the beginning of her career, the speaker was in charge of investigations concerning environmental crimes in Amazonian states, from deforestation to illegal logging and illegal gold mining. Since 2018, she has been advocating the need to contextualize environmental crimes and to understand them in relation to other crimes to which they are usually attached, such as fraud, land grabbing, and money laundering. The Amazon Task Force successfully utilised this approach. The initiative also deepened the Prosecution's Service knowledge of functioning methods of environmental criminal organisations. Since September 2021, the speaker is attending an LLM in Environmental Law and Policy at the University College London. She graduated in Law at Universidade de São Paulo (USP).
